“We have a new storyteller around! Every song is filled with creative, clever lines. Tom Peschges has a real talent for connecting casual observations into "Real Life" experiences and emotions we all share. Even though the story in the songs may be about a specific place or person, you're still drawn into the story...because somehow..it's a part of YOU. Make this CD a part of your collection. You'll love it! (I did!) ” - Mylan Ray, KJOE Radio
Short Bio
Tom Peschges (PESS-guess) grew up in Currie, Minnesota — population 400 — where small-town life gave him an ear for stories and a love of place. After years in radio broadcasting, where he trained his voice and learned the art of clear, expressive communication, life led him through business ownership and real estate. It wasn't until his 50s that he returned to music, quickly becoming a fixture on the Minnesota bluegrass scene and co-founding the popular six-piece band the Double Down Daredevils. Now, with his debut solo album Born at the End of the Line, Tom steps forward as a songwriter on his own terms.
Long Bio
Tom Peschges (pronounced PESS-guess) is a Minnesota-based singer, songwriter, and storyteller whose path to music was anything but direct — and all the richer for it.
He grew up in Currie, Minnesota, a town of 400 people where everybody knew everybody. That upbringing gave him something many songwriters spend careers trying to acquire: an instinct for specific, grounded storytelling. "Setting a geographic location creates context," he says. "What makes a good story? Who, what, where, when. The 'where' is an important part of it."
After playing in bands during his college years, Tom set music aside to pursue a career in radio broadcasting, training at Brown Institute in Minneapolis. Radio taught him how to do everything with just his voice — to enunciate, to project, to carry emotion in the sound of words alone. It's a discipline that never left him. To this day, one of the most consistent things listeners say about Tom is that they can understand every word he sings.
Seven years in broadcasting gave way to other chapters: business ownership, a decade-plus in real estate, a full life that left little room for music. The guitar sat untouched in the corner of his living room for the better part of 25 years. As he approached 50, Tom decided it was time to find out what the next decade would be about. He went back to music.
He threw himself into the Minnesota bluegrass scene, jamming at festivals and finding his people. A chance meeting with harmony singer Nathan Fjeld led to a lasting musical partnership, and together they co-founded the Double Down Daredevils — a six-piece band built around traditional bluegrass sounds, layered harmonies, and original songwriting. The band became a beloved presence on the regional circuit, releasing an album in 2022.
But Tom had more personal stories to tell. His debut solo album, Born at the End of the Line, is the record he's been building toward his whole life — a cohesive collection of songs that traces an arc from small-town roots to hard-won gratitude. Collaborating with award-winning Nashville songwriter Tim Stafford, and recorded aboard the remarkable Joyful Noise riverboat studio in St. Paul with producer Peter Borne, the album reflects everything Tom has learned about voice, story, place, and the long road that connects where you come from to who you become.
Born at the End of the Line is available April 9, 2026.
